Review:
(October 2008) Korma Sutra’s concept is to present the pleasure and joy of food to its patrons, thus the reference to pleasure in the name. Though the décor is not in line with upscale KC dining, the experience is well worth the visit. The owner and staff knew the regulars by name and usual dish. We decided to try a bit of everything by ordering the Two Person Family Dinner. Will we ever learn that their kitchen math is a little different than ours? This was sufficient for 4 people! The vegetarian version of the two person dinner was 7 courses (I think, I lost count) and a hand washing. Talk about service! Before our Chai and desserts arrived, the waitress approached our table with a tiny silver pitcher of warm water, a bowl, a wedge of lime and a hand towel. If you have ever eaten Indian food the traditional way (with your hands), you can appreciate how refreshing and invigorating this ritual is. The Korma Kofta was my personal favorite, a vegetable “meat”-ball floating in a creamy, tomato-rich sauce. The rice was spiked with whole cloves and cardamom pods - very fragrant. The veggie samosas were divine – fabulous comfort food. When ordering you are given a choice between medium or hot. Medium was very comfortable for me, though it seemed to differ a bit from dish to dish. Part restaurateur, part performer, the owner came to our table as we finished, shook our hands and thanked us for coming. We felt we had once again discovered another hidden gem. We can’t wait to go back for more!
